Hello, and thanks in advance for any help.
About 13 years ago, my license was revoked in Kansas for a 3 strikes rule. I have taken care of all issues related to that, but during that 3 year revokation, I was pulled over in Maryland. I recieved a must appear ticket there. I was held until bond was posted. I was unable to return there due to money constraints, but about 2 years later got enough money saved to put a retainer on a lawyer. He had my bench warrent removed, and I flew there for court and stayed overnight. All said, it cost about $3,000 for that trip. When I got to court, my court appearance was postponed due to the judges illness. I left empty handed. I have not returned, and it has been 10+ more years. I am still not able to get a valid Kansas DL, as I am held up by the ticket in Maryland. I have called the courts and the DMV, but have only been told that I must appear to have this resolved. Kansas lawyers won't touch it, and tell me I need a Maryland lawyer. Maryland lawyers want a HUGE retainer since I'm out of state. Does anyone have any clue as to any other way I may get somewhere on this? I have 5 children and a full time job, and I am barely making ends meet. I cannot affort to go through this again. Thanks again.
