My question involves an eviction in the state of: indiana. my landlord lives in orange, ca. i moved in 4 months ago, paying an 800.00 deposit, and 800.00 a month rent. it was advertised as having central air and heat. after we moved in we found there was no duct work going upstairs. hence, no heat or air in 2 bedrooms and one bathroom, or in the stairway going up. there is also an efficiency apt in the garage that they were going to rent separatly for 250.00 a month. problem is there's no variance on it and the utilities were off mine. it also has no separate address and i was expected to share my mailbox, so i felt i had no choice but to rent it myself. i was also required to share the deck attached to the house. i called the building inspector and was told it didn't have a varience and she couldn't rent it separate. the inspector called her and i deducted the rent and seperate deposit i'd paid for the eff. apt. she went ballistic. i saved 112 text messages she sent me in one night telling me to get out. i quit paying rent and started looking for another place. she sent a relative i'd never mrt over with a 10 day quit letter last week. my question is, can a "property manager" file eviction without having power of attorney from the owner? i live in a small town and have 4 kids, and finding another place has been fruitless so far. thank you for any advice. jwhar69
