Alabama Dental Bill
I moved to Illinois a year ago, before I left Alabama I called my Dentist to make sure I did not owe any money, as I had a cleaning done just a month before moving and I wanted to make sure my insurance had paid. They said the insurance had paid and I had a zero balance. Last week 9/17/06 I got a letter from them they had sent to my son whom still lives in Alabama and is also a patient of this dentist, I did not see the need to leave a forwarding address with my Dentist. The letter said I owe $333.00 for a crown I recieved in December 2002. When I called them about the bill they said the computer program used for billing was messed up and they just got it fixed, and when they fixed it all these outstanding balances showed up, mine included, First I always paid my share of my dental bills my insurance company did not pay. I know the insurance company only pays 50 percent for a crown and I am sure I paid the other 50 percent, in fact they would have had me pay BEFORE they ordered the crown as usual (I have had a lot of dental work done over the years) My records are in storage and I can not get to them to search my cancelled checks. They want me to make a payment anyway. What is the SOL in Alabama for dental bills? How can I put them off untill I move and review my records? (if I still have them that is).
Thank You
Lorraine

Re: Alabama Dental Bill
Ask them to resumbit the bill to your insurance, or check with the insurer to see if they paid their share. If you also paid, dig up your payment record or receipt. It's probably a six year statute of limitations.

Re: Alabama Dental Bill
My insurance did pay thier portion, next question is did I? I am sure I did, always paid on time and upfront, problem is my records are in stoarge, will not be moving into new house for about 6 months, that is when I will be able to dig through them.. Wondered how to proceed, hate to pay anything, if I do not owe, it would be like admitting I owed the debt. But I do not wish to tarnish my credit. It seems unfair they took four years to bill me, but they want my money in 30 days. Thank You so much for your help. What a great form you have here.
