Adult Hanging Out with a Teenage Girl Accused of Statutory Rape
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas

So me and this 16 year old girl have been hanging out . Her parents recently found out we were texting and our texts were inappropriate. Now they are accusing me of having sex with her, which I never did, and she's telling them she didn't have sex with me also. Can I get charged still? Is text enough evidence? I'm 20

    Leave her alone.

Her parents are God - quite literally - in this situation. No texts, no nothing.

You can always get charged. Her statements would be enough. That and corroborating messages from you would certainly be enough to convict.
In addition, if any of those messages were pictures that qualify for child pornography, you're in a world of hurt there, too.

Until she is 18, do not have any communications with her.

You should not be letting anything hang out with a minor involved.

Her statements would or wouldn't be enough? We didn't have sex and she's agreeing with this statement too

    Convicted? Different matter entirely.

Okay. But her statements are that we didn't have sex. But her parents don't believe her and are accusing. Are her statements more reliable ?

Their statements + evidence of sexting = that might just do it.

That depends ... if the nature of the texts were sufficiently graphic they just might violate some other decency law in TX.

If the police come calling, you have the right to remain silent. You might consider it, then immediately contact an attorney. If the police do not come calling, consider this a wake up call to play with girls your own age.
