    Can I Receive Unemployment After Being Out of Work on Long-Term Disability
    My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: New Jersey


    In September of 2011 I was involved in a car accident which injured my neck and back. I have been out of work, I received short-term disability after my accident. When that ran out I was on public assistance and food stamps until my works Long-Term Disability kicked in. After August my doctors decided that I was able to return to work. The company I work for could not hold my position for the time that I was out of work but states that upon my clearance for work, I will have up to 30 days to secure a new job within the organization. My question is, since I haven't been working for almost a year, if after the 30 days I am unable to secure a position, will I then be eligible for unemployment benefits in the State of New Jersey?

    If you have adequate earnings in your base period, yes, you should be able to collect. Offhand I do not know NJ's formula.
