    Illegal Wiretapping Phone Conversation
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan

My ex best friend and me had a nasty falling out which led to me suing them, and them tampering with my car. As immature as it sounds I tampered with their car back, and then I had to call them for something important, they asked me about it and I admitted to it, ony because they did mine first. They said they didnt do anything to mine but have a recording device on their phone and just recorded me admitting to me messing with theirs. They are going to the police, we live in Michigan. Isn't that illegal to record the phone convo because I didn't know or consent or am I gonna get in trouble?

I know I shouldn't have done it, but I was pissed they did it to mine too because I won the lawsuit, this was a big enough scare for me to never act out in spite or anger again. It's BS they recorded me saying that because I didn't know.

I think the entire lot of you needs to grow up and stop acting like children. What evidence do you have that they actually did record you, and didn't just claim to have done so?

They texted a mutual friend of ours claiming they recorded it and put it on a CD and are taking it to the police. That's the only "proof" I have.

That's nothing even remotely resembling proof.

Them saying that with their own mouth isn't proof?

If they truly did record it though and went to the police with the recording, what's going to happen though? I didn't know I was being recorded until after the fact and I certainly don't give consent to be recorded.

In Michigan, any party to a conversation is allowed to record it. If you don't want to risk being caught on tape confessing to crimes, it is best not to admit to having committed crimes to any person who may be recording you.

No. They saying with their own mouths (who else's mouths would they be using?) that they recorded you is NOT proof that they actually did so. It is only proof that they SAID they did.

I don't have the faintest idea what will happen if they actually did record you and go to the police with it. The crystal ball is being recalibrated, the Magic 8 ball is out for repairs, and Madame Zuileka is on vacation. If the police show up at your door, you'll find out then. If they don't, then you'll know that either your so-called friend was lying about recording you, or the police didn't feel it worthy of their time.

Start behaving like a grown up and not a junior-higher, and you won't have to worry about such things.
