F-1 Student Out of Status
Hi,
I was recently suspended from my university but I planned to attend a community college and transfer back after one semester. However, I got wrong information from the admissions office (they assumed I was an American) and by the time I applied, it was simply late for international admissions. It's only been one day since school started and I wanted to know; when am I going to be out of status? I am applying to that college for the spring semester. Do I need to leave the US meanwhile or can I apply for reinstatement and stay here? Also when I apply for reinstatement, what are my chances of getting it approved?
Thank you a lot.
Re: F-1 Student Out of Status
Most schools will not accept a student who has been suspended from another. You are out of status now; you cannot remain until the spring term begins. You were suspended for a reason; if you wanted to appeal, you should have done immediately. Since you did not provide the reason for your suspension, there is no way to evaluate your chances of even being readmitted in the future.
You need to return home and get your act together. Apply to return after serving the time of your suspension.
Be advised that the university has likely notified USCIS/ICE about your status. It is in your best interest to follow the rules and leave without being detained.
