Should I Press Charges Against My Cousin
My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: Alabama
I don't exactly know if this is where to put this question, but I've been thinking about this for awhile now. My cousin molested me when I was 10, and now I'm 17. I know that the statute of limitations for minors in alabama doesn't even start running until you're 19, so I could. But it would just be a he said-she said trial, and I wouldn't have the support of my family. Would I even be able to press charges if my family wouldn't help me? I'm just worried he's still doing this, to someone else. So.. any advice would be great.
Re: Should I Press Charges Against My Cousin
You can certainly make a report, yes. Then it will be up to the authorities to make the decision about pressing charges.
How old was your cousin at the time?
Re: Should I Press Charges Against My Cousin
It might be hard to proof but one big factor about filing the report is it will be on record so if someone in the future files a complaint it should be taken a lot more seriously.
