Immigrant Visa Petition Returned After Missed Interview
I was informed that my approved immigrant visa petition was returned back to the USA because I could not attend the immigrant visa interview at the Consulate in Ottawa (which I could not because I was abroad). After contacting the IV section at the consulate to reschedule the interview, they asked me to re-submit the DS-230 and mentioned that "the machine" (sic) would assign a new interview date in about a month or so.

However, four months have passed without news. I suspect that my approved petition was sent back to the USA and now is being reclaimed by the Consulate. Does anybody know how long usually this process takes? Does anybody have any idea of possible problems that could arise?

Thank you very much in advance!

Try using the online case status service, to see if you can find out what is going on.

Thanks, Aaron. This immigrant visa is being processed at a foreign Consulate and there is no information available at the online case status service of US Citizenship and Immigration. At this point I am afraid the petition is probably stuck somewhere in there waiting to be returned to the Consulate....
I hope that anybody could provide any information about this type of incidents. I only hope that my visa would not be in jeopardy as time passes... (apparently you only have about one year after the interview is scheduled to move ahead).
