Employer Didn't Fill Out Paperwork for Unemployment
My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: Pennsylvania

My story has 2 questions at the end.

I was separated from my job last year through no fault of my own. The company relocated out-of-state and let everyone go. I just past my year anniversary on unemployment

A few months back after I realized my work search record had surpassed 200 applications, I took a part-time job working in a local retail shop just to be working a bit again. The store said they needed some extra during a few months in the Spring so I took it. I earned less than $900 in the 2 months I worked and then Spring was over. I reported all my earnings to the PA unemployment office during this time.

After my part-time position ended, PA Unemployment witheld my earnings for 1 week. I called to find out what the issue was and they asked why my part-time job ended. I told them they didn't need me anymore and all was well.

I went into the store I worked at part-time yesterday to shop and saw my previous manager as I was leaving. She mentioned she had gotten paperwork from the unemployment office for me in June, but didn't know what to do with it so she never filled it out. She handed it to me because she thought I was supposed to have it. When I looked at it later, I realized it was paperwork for her, the employer, and not me. It clearly says for the employer to fill it out and return it within 3 days to the office!

    1) What do I do with the paperwork given to me? Since it's 2 months overdue, will it affect my unemployment because it wasn't sent back (or if I do nothing now?)

    2) I have read some other posts about Part-time jobs and EUC being a nightmare because biweekly claims after the part-time separation are charged to that account and not the previous full-time employer. Is this true?? Am I facing a serious loss in EUC payments because I wanted to be back working in society?

    HELP!.... Please

Ask the lady to submit the paperwork as you cannot do this. Make a copy of what she submits, contact your local unemployment office and explain what happened. And keep notes of all the people you speak to - dates, times, what was said and what was submitted. As far as working temporary and then returning to unemployment - as long as you have a balance, this will work. When you run out of benefits, some states are extending. But that is changing as someone in Washington has determined the extensions are no longer needed. Bottom line, contact your local office and make sure you know all rules to follow and what your rights are. Career Counseling

Many, many employers do not send back the paperwork if they are not contesting unemployment. Their failure to do so does not mean that you will lose your UI; rather, it means that your employer's have lost the right to appeal if they should later decide that they object to your benefits.

    Relax.
