    Being Evicted By a Roommate
My question involves an eviction in the state of: Michigan.

I mentioned in another forum how my roommate was losing stuff....then suddenly de-friended me.

Today, his sister comes in and says I am to move out immediately, and I was told before to move out (I was not). I told her I need a formal eviction notice. I have since told RoomMate that he has to file for it, since I live with him.

In the meantime, I have started packing.

I have contacted police about threats from his sister. Can I get an order keeping her out of the apartment while I pack? I don't mind HIM being here to supervise, but I have an issue with someone who has threatened me.

    Thanks

Roommate is the leaseholder? If so, and she has his permission to be there, no, I don't see where you'd be successful in obtaining a restraining order.

As far as the eviction goes, though, what are your rental terms? I assume you're a month to month tenant? On what grounds are you being evicted?

I'm month to month and pay him cash. So he is getting unreported income technically.

I drenched the stupid cat with salt water when it attacked me while I was cooking. I have scratches on my foot from the little beast.

So I'm not a health hazard. I paid rent early every single month (thank God I have not paid for August yet). And I have not terminated a tenancy.

Oh...as to the roommate...I did manage to save a copy of his "guess who lost his wallet for the 4th time" thing.

This is good...cat is not licensed or registered, and is not even supposed to be in the apartment......

I have advised him that this is an illegal eviction. I highlighted the part about he cannot lock me out or move my possessions (getting UHaul today or tomorrow when friend has time).

Also told him I want formal eviction papers (may help with getting some assistance from DHS to get settled).
