Filing a Petition (I-130/I-485/I-765) with Name Different from Naturalization Cert
Hi! My wife is about to file a petition for me. She and I married on May 2012 -during that time she was in the process of getting her citizenship. She changed her last name before her oath taking ceremony, around June. She finally got her naturalization cert on July 2012. However, the name on the naturalization certificate is her maiden name and her status as "single". We tried to get a new one but they said she has to fill up a form, pay $345, and wait up to 6 months to get the updated certificate - which is obviously not an option for us since she wants to petition me asap. My question is do we put the name on her naturalization certificate or her new legal name on the forms? If we fill up the forms with her new legal name, will it create problems since her main proof of US citizenship contains her maiden name? We have records such as our marriage cert, her new SS card & new drivers license. What do you suggest we should do? Hope to hear from you guys!

    Thanks!

She should normally use the name she is using on her Social Security records.
