Should I Even Try to Get a Modification
My question involves child support in the State of: Ohio
I have twin girls who I have shared parenting of , I am also residential parent. I have my girls 50% of the time. I was laid off from my job 2 months ago with no return in sight at this point. I have a child support agreement with my ex of $400 month for both which I was advised by lawyer was good ( I felt like if I have them as much as her and pay for school and clothes and provide health insurance and extra curricular activities seemed unfair) my question is now she is making more than I am is it work trying to get a modification to my child support?
Re: Should I Even Try to Get a Modification
Prove to the court that you have your girls 50% of the time. Neither of you should pay support. Show that you pay for their needs, i.e. clothing and school, insurance and extra curricular activities.
Re: Should I Even Try to Get a Modification
Except that is not the correct answer.
Even with a 50/50 timeshare, if there is a huge disparity in income one parent can be ordered to pay child support to the other.
OP, request the mod based upon your involuntary unemployment.
