Just Found Out I May Have a Teenage Son
My question involves child support in the State of: Ohio
About 16 years ago I had a two week relationship with a girl. We "hooked" up once. I was just "friend requested" by her on Facebook and I found out she has a 15 year old son.... and he looks a lot like me. I had never hidden from her, she had my home phone number and knew where I lived. After we stopped seeing each other, contact was never attempted. I see now, that she is married and has 3 children. I'm married and have a son of my own. She hasn't pursued anything, or even hinted that I was the father, but I'm kind of freaking out. Does she have any legal grounds to go after me for child support? The thought of 16 years of back child support is making me sick to my stomach.
Re: Just Found Out I May Have a Teenage Son
It depends on whether or not there is already a legal father.
Re: Just Found Out I May Have a Teenage Son
Ohio Revised Code Section 3111.13 states that support will not be made retroactive to birth if the child is over three years old at the time of filing and propr to filing the alleged father had no knowledge of the alleged paternity.
