Florida: First Offense M1 Petit Theft Ror
Hello, I'm 18 & reside in Jacksonville, FL. I have no clue what to do about my case. I was charged with Petit Theft m1 as a first offense & stayed over night in the Jail.. I stole $150 worth of goods from Publix. I went to first appearance court & pleded "Not Guilty" the judge gave me an ROR & said a bunch of other stuff really fast. My court date is In about 25 days. I don't know what the heck to do. The thing is there is so much proof I am guilty! What should I do? I'm going to show up to court, do I need a public defender? Do I owe Publix any money? Do I still have a charge? I just am so clueless about this. do I have to go back to jail? I'm really scared about this.

What should I do? Did you ask for a Public Defender at the time of your pleading? If not, you better get back to the court and find out if you can get/qualify for one.

Do I owe Publix any money?
They will more than likely send you a Civil Demand, which has nothing to do with your criminal charge.

Do I still have a charge? Yes you do. You plead not guilty and the Judge assigned you a trial date. Get an attorney.
