Non-Custodial Parent Moved After Being Served
My question involves child support in the State of: North Carolina/Rhode Island/Illinois
I live in NC. The father of my baby to whom I was never married was served in RI. Shortly after being served he was transferred by his company to Illinois. I was told by my agency in NC that RI may proceed with the order anyway. The father and I would like it moved to NC if possible, since neither of us lives in RI. As IL has a reputation for being slow, I definately don't want to go after him there. Does anyone know if RI in particular will insist on keeping the case or will want/allow it to be moved to NC? Also, he claims to want to participate, but will he be able to slip through the cracks if the case is moved to NC?
