Can a Company Intern Get a J1 Visa
Hi all,
I've been in the US for twelve months on a J-1 Visa which ended like a month ago. I was here on"student visa" category. I'm not subject to two year home country residency.
I have an offer from a company and they want to get a J-1 Visa for me. What we are not sure which category of J-1 will work.
I know that I can not be on a "research scholar or student intern" again because both of them are academic categories and I need to wait for 12 months before.
How about "intern"? Is that different from "student intern"? What category of J-1 visa should I apply for?
Pleeeeease help. Every comment will be helpful.
Thanks
Re: Can a Company Intern Get a J1 Visa
What is "like a month"? Your choice to overstay your visa can result in a lot of problems for you, so make sure "like a month" involves returning home less than 30 days after your visa expires.
You have given us no information that would help us identify a plausible J1 visa category for this employer. It may be that you cannot work for this employer under a J1 visa. They can talk to their immigration lawyer, or you can consult one with the facts.
