If I Never Signed a Lease Am I Obligated to Pay Rent
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Texas

My daughter moved out beginning of june. She moved in with a friend who rented a 2 bedroom appartment. the friend was already living there with her boyfriend. The agreed on my daughter paying 300 for her part of the rent which she paid to the girl on the lease. My daughter signed an application. Now a month later the girls boyfriend moved out so than my daughter had to pay 460 a month. 2 days ago the girl moved out after my daughter gave her 460 dollars in cash for the august rent. Thie morning she texted my daughter that we wont be able to pay next month rent. But my daughter never met the landl;ord nor did she sign a lease. what can I do to help my daughter or what can my daughter do?

The answer to your first question is easy: You aren't responsible for rent your daughter owes.

As for your daughter, if she is a subtenant of the master tenants, not a tenant of the landlord, she has no contractual relationship with the landlord. But you say she "signed an application", and it seems unlikely that her roommates had her sign such a document. That makes it appear that she was agreeing to be an additional tenant to the unit and that she would be responsible to pay the landlord. Exactly what does that document say?
