    Fictional Character Name Copyright
Hi! I'm trying to determine if it would be OK to register a domain name that sounds similar to the name of a fictional character. For example: HarrySpotter.com, instead of Harry Potter; or Dumbledork.com, instead of Dumbledore. The domain name would be for a blog where I will review movies and TV shows.

    Thank you!

    You can not copyright names.
The names Harry Potter and Dumbledore are trademarks however of Jo Rowling and Warner Bros. They fiercely defend these. Your websites most likely would be found to be trademark infringement either via confusion or dilution. Frankly, it would appear your intent would be to cash in on the popularity of their marks for your own site.
