Threatened With Termination if I Refuse Overtime Assigned Without Notice
My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Texas
Here is my case I work for a prewire company the first thing is my boss has threatened with fire me if I don't stay overtime without previous notice, I have almost a year working for him and he provide with tool to everyone else less me and I demonstrate to be a good worker he promised me a raise like 5 times but still nothing (working for the minimum wages) he got mad and threatened me again with a week off because we get in on a dirt road and the tires got dirty, Tuesday he send me home because I use the wrong plates for a house I didn't call him because he told me before not to so I use what I have to do the job and now he want to make me sing a write up and I think he want to fire me
What can I do?
Re: What to Do if I Get Fire
Start looking for another job and quit when you find one.
Your boss sounds like a real piece of work but nothing you have posted violates the law.
Re: What to Do if I Get Fire
In case I got fire what options do I have I don't mean a law sue maybe file unemployment?
Re: What to Do if I Get Fire
Filing for unemployment would be your first step if you are fired. Then your second step is to start looking for other work.
Re: What to Do if I Get Fire
Thanks I'm just worried about the bills between the transition
Re: What to Do if I Get Fire
Filing for UI doesn't mean you'll get UI. If you're fired for insubordination (i.e., refusing to work overtime when ordered to), the chances of you getting UI are pretty low.
Re: What to Do if I Get Fire
Nonetheless, you should always file. If you file, you may or may not be approved, depending on details we cannot assess from here. If you don't file, you definitely will not be approved.
But make no mistake, if you are not approved, it will be the decision of the state, NOT your employer.
Re: What to Do if I Get Fire
Simply put, start looking for a new job. You may get a new job before you get fired.
Re: What to Do if I Get Fire
I'm on it I really don't want to file
