Alright... heres the story. My partner (whose name I will not disclose) has recently turned 17. He lives in a household (in a not-so-safe neighborhood) with his mother and father. They basically live at poverty level and I wouldn't call it the best place to live... at all. I am 18 and I live a few states away from him. We have been together for a little over a month and have known each other for almost a year. Mind you, we are both male. Recently, his parents found out he was gay and have been cracking down very hard on him. They ripped his internet cables out of the wall, made a few threats (added to the ones he already receives in his community), think he's crazy and needs to seek a therapist, and have been causing a lot of emotional and mental abuse upon him. We discussed emancipation and we both looked it up. He has a job, but can not afford a place of shelter (IE apartment). However, thats what I would be doing while he finishes his last year of school (working to support us, which should not be hard seeing as I work three jobs). One of the only things we are concerned about, is will the judge allow him to become emancipated if his parents will not allow it and that he -himself- can't afford a place of shelter? I mean, it would not be right for him to live in a hostile enviornment where he doesn't feel safe This could also fall under the child abuse sections under emotional abuse and trauma. If need be, I would gladdly become a guardian (if I was able) and would do anything to get him away from that (IE If I need a lawyer, I will get one). I love him with all my heart and I do not want to he him suffering like he has been.
A judge is not going to emancipate a minor so they can go live with a b/f or g/f.
If there is abuse the proper authorities need to be contacted.
