Increase in Support Wasn't Large Enough

My question involves child support in the State of: IL

I'm mom, son is 4, we have had a child support order established since my son was 6 months old.

My son's father was paying support based on making $15,000 a year, he was paying $40 a week. Recently I got a letter in the mail saying the child support was raised because he was making more money. He has been making $30,000 for the past 2 years. Based on the online child support calculators I've looked at, he should now be paying $480 a month or $120 a week. I've been getting the new amount for two months now and they only raised it by $20 a month. Why would that be? Could he have lied about how much he's actually making? Who do I call about this?

It's absolutely possible he lied about how much he's earning.

Do you have proof of his earnings, Mom?

Not really. Only what he has told me and what I have found searching his job title online. Nothing substantial. Could I file a petition for him to turn over his pay stubs for the year/month?

Presumably when he last filed for a mod, he turned over at least a W2. It is possible that he's not being paid the "going rate" - for whatever reason. But if his salary as truly doubled, I would have expected more than the raise you got.

Plugging the numbers here: http://www.childsupportillinois.com/...lculating.html spits out more or less the same as what you're saying (about $30-40 less, but still in the mid 400s. I may have allowed a generous withholding though lol). I'd try giving the folks on the letterhead a call, and asking them for an accounting and how they came up with the number.
