Caught With Marijuana but Not Cited or Arrested - What Can Happen

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Missouri

I was with a few friends at a music festival in MO and were caught by police at our campsite with less than and eighth of weed and a couple pipes. They initially handcuffed two out of the three of us and checked our pockets. They made no further searches of our belongings. They just kept saying "do you want to go to jail or leave?". They already had everything we had and when we said that they then released us to the camp security who kicked us all out of the festival. They ended up coming back later as we were packing the car and took pictures of all three of our IDs but let us go and didn't say anything about being charged. Should we expect a summons in the mail or any charges to be made?

As they didn't cite you then, the odds are somewhat better that they won't cite you now - but only time will tell.

First, thank you for responding. These were my initially thoughts as well, however I began to wonder, why would they take pictures of our IDs if not to eventually follow through with charges?
