Re: In the Park After Dusk
you weren't told your parents have to be there? Since you are a minor, I suspect that is not a choice.
Re: In the Park After Dusk
No they didn't tell me, but I don't know what to do, should I go by myself or tell my parents?
Re: In the Park After Dusk
You can go on your own but I suspect your parents are going to have to be there before the court does anything. Is there some reason you wouldn't tell your parents you are in a bit of legal trouble?
Re: In the Park After Dusk
No, its just I'm too scared as to what my parents would do I they found out. This is my first offense so will the judge go easy on me? Is there a way to not let this show up on my record?
Re: In the Park After Dusk
This is a violation not a crime,it's probably a 25 dollar or 50 dollar fine,if your lucky the judge might grant an acd which would dismiss the charge after 6 months if you stay out of trouble. I cut thru a park in Manhattan not realizing about this law and was given the same ticket.
Re: In the Park After Dusk
So do I plead for an acd? And what is the likelihood of me receiving one?
Re: In the Park After Dusk
It's just a ticket like littering or going 10 mph over the speed limit,it's not even as bad as a trespassing charge which is still not a crime in new york. Sometimes a judge just gives an acd if it's your 1st time in trouble or if you had a good reason to be in the park (you weren't just loitering). The judge asked me why I was in the park (I told him that I was cutting thru and unaware of the law). A different judge might of just given me a fine.
If an acd isn't granted then I would just pay the fine and not worry about it . Just be careful not put your self in a situation where a cop might arrest you,be glad that you were only give a ticket for being in the park to late. I doubt it will have an effect with getting a job,it shouldn't even come up in a backround check. You weren't arrested or convicted of a crime. If you do have admit it or it come up it's such a minor bs charge.
