Re: Dear Verizon Wireless
I never was a big fan of Verizon. Thank you, Pandy, for confirming that I need to stay with T-Mobile when my phone contract expires in August.
Re: Dear Verizon Wireless
I am going to tell them I wish they would take the fee off, but I am still going elsewhere. And their corporate office is getting one nasty letter telling them why I am taking my business elsewhere.....
Re: Dear Verizon Wireless
What is the fee for? I pay for unlimited data, are they raising that?!?
Re: Dear Verizon Wireless
I've been with Sprint for years. When smartphones got to be A Thing, they sent out texts and e-mails and paper letters informing customers that if you purchased a smartphone, there'd be a $10 data fee added to your monthly rate, beginning 6 months from the time these letters started going out. I knew well in advance that my smartphone would cost me $10 more a month. Given the sheer amount of data I use and the number of texts flying around here every day, I feel like they're getting the short end of the stick.
Dumbphones don't have the extra charge at Sprint.

I haven't received an "official" notification yet, but I think even those that were grandfathered, in their latest rate restructuring, are now gonna get hosed too with the new plan.
Which I thinks sucks rocks personally 'cause I've been with them since they were Ameritech. There's no accounting for customer loyalty any more or anywhere, so when they lay the 'new' rate structure on me, Ima hafta gonna go shop elsewhere while telling them that they can stick the new rate thingie right up their corporately greedy asses!
Re: Dear Verizon Wireless
I hear you! I've currently have the triple play and four smart phone cell plans with them. I gave been a verizon cell plan for 13 years. I will cancel if they raise my data plan.
Re: Dear Verizon Wireless
At least they are warning you...
My wife and daughter have iphones... and have since they came out. At that time, ATT had an unlimited data plan for iphones to get people to buy a ridiculously expensive phone that looked pretty cool. Well, of course, smart phones took off and the data networks started getting busy.
My data plan just keeps getting renewed... at unlimited on the iphones.
ATT HATES those of us with unlimited plans. First, they tried to bribe us away... then, they tried to tell us we couldn't renew (but my contract was enforceable)... so, instead, they just slow down the data on unlimited plans. that's right... they make unlimited plans SLOWER on data than other plans. If we go to another plan (more expensive with less allowed data), our speeds will go up... WAYYY up.
Thanks, ATT. That is akin to slowing down the ambulance if you have an old health insurance policy that doesn't make the company as much money as new people.
Why is it that only cable and mobile phone companies can treat existing customers WORSE than new ones and get away with it?
Re: Dear Verizon Wireless
$9.99 is what they raised be my. For a $39.99 contract. I do not have cable or internet through them.
My plan was the very basic...400 minutes, pay 15 cents for each text (that I did not want).
I never received a letter about this change. Read about it online today and my bill happened to arrive today with the new fee.
Re: Dear Verizon Wireless
check into the non-contract phone providers. There are some that are pretty cheap in comparison to any of the contract providers and given the desire for simple phone service, it would likely work well for you.
