Suspended, no insurance, not at fault
 I recently moved from Nebraska to Georgia. When I called my insurance company to make a pymt and update my address I was told I could not have that insurance anymore if I didn't live in Nebraska. I also have to keep SR-22 insurance on file with Nebraska so when my insurance lapsed my license was suspended. This was last month. I don't have a license with Georgia yet.

I was in the process of finding another insurance company and sending a reinstatment fee to Nebraska when I got into an accident. The driver of the other car drove in front of me while attempting to make a left hand turn and I hit her car. I called the police and when they arrived at the scene I was told the accident is her fault because I had the right away. I gave the police my license and old insurance card. I explained to them that I did not have insurance on my car. I was driven the the emergency room for my injuries. I did not receive any tickets or citations from the police.

My question is..Would I be able to contact her insurance company to file a cliam or am I out of luck due to not having a Georgia license and my Nebraska license being suspended at the time of the accident?

The fact that you were in violation of the laws in Georgia doesn't relieve the other driver from being at fault. File a claim with the other driver's insurance company (and hope that the other driver didn't let his/her insurance lapse).

However, you may get a ticket for the violation. (See link below)
