Does an Underage Alcohol "Civil" Citation Give You a Criminal Record
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Maryland
A couple of my friends and I were recently caught with alcohol in a Maryland state park. None of us was over 20. The natural resources police were fairly kind and charged us with underage possession of intoxicating beverages (but not possession/consumption of alcohol in non-designated areas), which they said would count as a "civil" fine, not a criminal charge and would not warrant an arrest.
So, once the fine is paid, does this count as a "civil infraction"? A petty offense? Will it truly not show up on my criminal record? What should I say at job interviews asking if I've ever committed a crime other than a traffic violation?
After looking for some time, I could not find any information on this, but I probably just don't know where to look. Any help is appreciated.

Civil offenses are, by definition, non-criminal.
If you want to verify the nature of a specific charge, look up the statute here.
