Not Apprehended at Time of Shoplifting but Concerned for Arrest at Later Date
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Mayland

So I've got a friend on the line in absolute hysterics--admittedly, its almost entirely her fault, but it still upsets me to see her so upset, so I'll attempt to relay this as quickly and as simply as possible.

    -has shoplifted from sephora before
-was given a recovery statement for 1 of 2 concealed merchandise
-took out the 1 and paid for it with credit card
-was wearing a work uniform and work in the same mall.
-three days after this event she was working and the store manager from sephora comes in. She greets her and possibly the sephora store manager notices her but continues browsing like she's shopping (makes no effort to confront), she's not sure if she was recognized. Manager introduces herself as the new sephora manager to her boss and asks casually about the uniforms (the only part of the conversation my friend heard was something about the sephora uniform being black pants and a black shirt, but she's assuming the other part of the conversation was about her work's uniforms) and then leaves. The other manager says nothing to her.
-what does this mean? Are these instances unrelated or are they building a case against her? If so, will they be successful? She says was never careful about CCTV/being caught on camera, but also has never been confronted about the other incidences of shoplifting prior to the recovery statement 3 days ago.

I think it goes without saying she's incredibly sorry, will never do this again, is probably being sincere about it but mostly I'm sure that's negligible information at this point. What will happen/is going to happen/could happen? Be as detailed as possible please.

It goes without saying she is only sorry about the fact she has likely been caught. She could potentially be charged, fined and fired from her current job. The nice thing is she will be in suspense for days!!!

I don't know. The crystal ball is at the cleaners, and the magic 8-ball is out for repairs.

Guess what your friend gets to do?

She gets to wait. And wait. And wait.

Sephora has a year to go after her. And there's nothing anyone can do to speed things up.

She'd do well to 1) stop shoplifting, 2) NEVER set foot in Sephora again, and 3) seek employment elsewhere.
