First Degree Burglary

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California

My boyfriend is being charged with first degree burglary. At his first court date he was told the maximum sentence is 6 yrs.
He has no prior records. He admitted to the crime when arrested by police, and admitted that he did it because he needed money to help his mother out because she is very ill. How much time is he possibly looking at?

Apparently 6 years.

Realistically he will probably serve some county time, be on probation and searchable for a few years.

And generally how much county time would that be?

Depends on the court. Around here, it might be a month or two, or weekends. Your county might be different.
