Fare Evasion and Trespassing
My question involves criminal law for the state of: New York
Recently hopped a turnstile, got banged for fare evasion coupled with trespassing.
I'm writing to the court for a hearing adjournment, but wanted to also take a shot at flat out dismissal, based on the fact that I was rushing to see my grandfather, who had been admitted to the hospital on the day of issuance of the summons'. Here's the letter, wanted to see if anyone could shoot back an edit, should it need to be modified/anything added/etc. Thanks in advance.
Your Honor,
Please consider the attached evidence as potential grounds for dismissal, if possible. Exhibits A and B are documentation of my 92 year old grandfather’s admission to the hospital on the day of the summons’ issuance. Exhibits C and D are letters which highlight my high moral character, describing the volunteer work in which I engage, for the benefit of the children of various communities in New Jersey. The summons’ I received were due to a momentary lapse in my otherwise sound judgment. I was thinking with my heart, rather than my head. I hope this letter finds you well, and thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Re: Fare Evasion and Trespassing
Please tell us you are kidding.
Re: Fare Evasion and Trespassing
Get a lawyer. Nothing you wrote has anything do to with the facts of the case. Some of it may be relevant at a sentencing proceeding if it comes to that.
