    First Offence Shoplifting from Sears
My question involves criminal law for the state of: New York

    My Age : 17

Yesterday, I was with my girlfriend and her friends and made the stupid choice of attempting to a steal a video game for 29.97, I got out of the store and was returned by two undercover security gaurds. I was taken into a room and question, they got all my details down, a police officer made me stand up, put hanculfs on me and made into go to the station, I was processed etc etc etc. My wrist had red rings and hurt from the culfs but happy I got out with my mom.
I dont know whats going to happen, i got court friday and never been in a court room before. I was legally arrested i think, but no Miranda rights [learned in social] were ever told to me. I was forced to sign paperwork and other things. My friends who got caught said they were banned from the mall and fined which is okay with me i deserved it for being so scu//y.
Now friday do i Go in plead guilty, non-guilty? please help im just a kid.

You and your mom need to talk to a Criminal Defense Lawyer.

"I was legally arrested i think, but no Miranda rights [learned in social] were ever told to me."The police do not have to give you your "Miranda rights" when you are arrested. By "social" I guess you're talking about high school social studies class? You may be a "kid", but at age 17 you are going to go to adult court.
