    Paraphernalia and Cannabis Possession
My question involves criminal law for the state of: illinois

I am 25 years old and was fishing with my cousin in lake county, il. We were approached by 2 dnr officers out in the middle of the lake and was checked for licenses and fish. They they asked " where the weed was" and claimed they could see us from across the lake. I cooperated and handed over my grinder, pipe, and less than 1.0 g of weed. He just gave me tickets with a court date and let us keep fishing. My question is... What am i looking at when i go to court? meaning fees? records? do i need a lawyer? i have a clean record and have never been in trouble. thanks in advance

What are the tickets for? Without knowing that it's hard to answer your questions. Since you were not arrested I doubt you'll looking at jail time.

Depending on your age and prior record, you may qualify for a deferred sentence Most states offer a deferral of some sort for first offense simple possession.

To be clear here - you're talking about state DNR officers and state charges, correct? Not federal charges in federal court?
