Green Card Wife Left and Now Claims Intra-Country Support
My question involves child support in the State of: florida
I won't go into the whole story, but I married a woman in costa rica after I got her pregnant in america. It turned into my worst nightmare. I did this because I believed she would bring my daughter to here and live together as a family. I supported them financially for 3 years and visited often, though on visits, she was cold, and always made excuses for why we could not go to file my daughter's citizenship at the local embassy there, even going as far once as "forgetting" the money that she demanded to hold, after a 3 hour hour ride through the country, and many reminders from me. When she finally got her green card and arrived by herself, she abruptly left a week later suddenly to go back. She came back a few weeks later and told me she was on birth control. Obviously not true. Never saw her taking them. Almost the day she found she was pregnant she turned dead cold on me. A few weeks after living with this violent, cold person, she left suddenly, after emptying out my bank account and leaving me to ask friends to cover rent for the month. Now she calls me from there telling me that she is filing for child support against me and divorce, and that the police will be visiting me for the money?! Can she now force support from me in america and not allow me to visit my children there as she stated to me? Can someone just blatantly use someone for a visa and to get pregnant and then abandon a marriage to another country and collect?!

Did you sponsor her green card? Using the I-864 Affidavit of Support?
And seriously - birth control can fail.

I did. But did not fully meet requirements, and her brother had to co-sponsor.

Hope that she doesn't return to the US any time soon (in other words, that she abandons her residency). Otherwise you can be on the hook to support her indefinitely.
With regards to child support yes, she can file. If you want to visit with your children, you'll need to look at the laws in Costa Rica - we can't help you there, really.

I won't get into all the levels of irresponsibility but face it, you were used. Now you have a child and need to support it. When it was mom n you had a bed buddy supporting her was not an issue, so why is supporting your child an issue?
