Using Information from a Proprietary Publication in a Public Domain Publication
I want to use some information from a proprietary publication in a public domain publication.

    1. Can I do that if I put the proprietary publication in the references?

    2. If so, what happens when someone removes the references?
Isn't anything public domain which descends from a public domain work?

What do you mean by proprietary? What do you mean by information?

Adding "credit" generally doesn't make illegal acts legal except when there is a license that authorizes to do things provided you give credit.

You cannot use property owned by someone else without their permission.

Proprietary: appeared in a scientific journal, for example; or in a book and not public domain.
Information: not a word-by-word quotation, but review and usage of a little part of the contents of the proprietary publication in other words.

Scientists usually use information from other works when they write a publication,
and then mention the references in the references section of the publication.
As far as I know, they act legally if they mention the references,
but they do not act legally if they do not mention the appropriate references (plagiarism or something?)

Thus, if I would act like a scientist and write a public domain work with some non-public domain references,
    what would happen?

It depends on the facts. You're being cagey, so we can't answer - and I suspect that you're not even in the U.S.

Consult a lawyer in your nation with your actual plan.
