Early Termination of Probation
My question involves criminal law for the state of: CA
I plan on going to court to get my probation terminated early. Im on 3 year felony probation for assault and I've been on probaion over 2 years already. I paid all my fines early and finished DV classes. No probation violations and I made significant changes in my life. I'm currently 1 year away from getting a BA in college and have a hardship with not getting employment.
What are my chances to getting off probation and felony reducing???
Also....I have letters from freinds, college verifying that I'm a student, and letters of volunteer work that I've done.
My question is- if I submit all this paperwork to the court, is the DA or judge going to call to verify the letters??? I don't want people getting calls fom the court and knowing my business.
Thanks

Why wouldn't you expect the letters to be verified? If you don't want them to know your business, then don't involve them by submitting their correspondence with you to the court.
Re: Early Termination of Probation
Having a felony reduced? Good luck with that, especially with it being so soon after conviction. You could try, 5 or 10 years down the road may find you a little more successful in your request.
What felony are we speaking of anyway and how badly did you injure someone in order to be convicted of FELONY DV?
Re: Early Termination of Probation
It's a domestic. You are not going to have any fans rooting for you in the court room. More than likely they will verify the validity of your letters of good standing. It's like not verifying your community service hours. a felony DV is a very significant deal. I think you need to take the probation and run with it.
