Would I Have a Case of Getting Full Custody and at What Age
My question involves a child custody case from the State of:

My ex partner has fallen pregnant and i know that the baby is mine, i am concered that i would be able to offer our baby a better sandard of life as i have a good stable job and financial better of as she has no savings and lives week to week. another one of my concers if that she had a very hard up bringing a both her mum and dad use to be heroine addicks so she moved to her grandmother at the age of 15-16. another question is at what age would i be able to file for full custody as the baby is not yet born. i know that she has been drinking and has been taking class A drugs through the pregnancy so far will this help my case as i know that she will fight for her own full custody.

    Many Thanks

You are in the state of... ?

If you're in Shropshire, you're in the wrong forum - U.S. law only.

    Yeap, that'd be Shropshire.

OP needs a solicitor in England.
Though I will say, unless Mom is unfit (similar to US laws), Dad will have a hard time getting custody of a newborn.

There might also be a long court battle for access to the child since you're not married to Mum.

(I have a nephew who just spent a year going back and forth to court before he was able to see his little girl on a regular basis).

Yeah thats what i was thinking, if i can prove that she is an unfit mum and the baby will have a better sandard of life with me would i have a strong case even if we are not married?

I'm not an expert, but if I were you and there was any way possible, I would ask to have the baby tested for drugs at birth. If the baby tests positive I would say that would prove the mother unfit. I would also file for a paternity test asap after the baby is born.

You realize this is OP is based in the UK, right? Things work VERY differently there.

I did know that, but no I didn't realize things work so differently there.

Same way one "catches" pregnant, but with a British accent.

OP, for matters of UK law, you might try here.
