Also, once she has been the primary care giver for the first year due to her being the mother it will be very difficult to change that unless she is found very unfit, which is not what you think is unfit, she needs to be a drunken drug user pretty much and leaving the infant on its own for a few hours while dealing crack from her 5 mile away neighbor's house

(Fixed it for ya, luv ;) :D - and with the gentlest of humour :) )

Seriously though, for anyone else reading this, the acceptable standard of parenting is appalling low in most jurisdictions. Drinking, drugging it up (pot is rarely an issue - meth though IS an issue) aren't always enough. The other parent has to prove that the parent's actions actually put the child in harm's way.

    Thanks :D

I know this is true. We had to take my husbands ex to court 3 times to get custody, each time armed with failed drug test, arrest records of DV, her husband and her both arrested for DV, suicide checks at there house, several contempts from her, keeping the child for months at a time, DUI's. We had 8 police reports for one year alone and that wasn't enough... The judge kept giving her chances to change because she was the custodial parent for years, even though the whole time she was a mess. I wish it was a 50/50 and truly whats best for the child but that is sadly not the case.
