Employment Discrimination Over a Criminal Record

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Illinois

Have a question concerning employment discrimination based on "class discrimination" .....

I have been a police officer in the state of illinois for @ 15 years, never been in trouble, never reprimanded or done anything for the need for reprimand in those 15 years. In 2009 I had a tip my chief of police was selling pot out of an evidence locker. Later on a co worker and I looked into the incident, he opened the locker and we found 15 pounds of pit that was there was missing, later on I reported the incident and my wo worker turned on me, changed his story and claimed he found me in the locker. Short story, i took a plea agreement of trespass (misdemeanor) due to the county this was in and I couldn't financially fight it any longer. I maintained by credentials to be a law enforcement officer.
Recently Feb 2012 I applied with another department, was hired by an acting Sheriff due to the elected Sheriff had passed away while in office...I rode along for a week with the chief deputy, purchased uniforms and within the week I made contact with the acting sheriff I was now told by the acting Sheriff that he couldn't hire me because he had no idea how long he was going to be in office, could be tomorrow, could be next week. I find this kind of strange due to the office is two deputies short, and the chief deputy himself has a misdemeanor for an actual violent crime himself.
So as of now I have gotten no straight answers from anybody other than what I stated above. Any recourse to this situation. I beleive I am being discriminated due to the misdemeanor I have.

    Re: Employment Discrimination
Yes, I saw it. Yes, they are allowed to treat him differently from you, as long as it is not because of a characteristic protected by law. Having a misdemeanor on your record is NOT a characteristic protected by law. Therefore, while it may be discrimination, it is not illegal discrimination. If you are operating under the belief that all employees must be treated identically or there is a legal violation, you are in error.
