U.S. Citizen Child's Eligibility for Medicaid if Parent is Recent Permanent Resident
    Hi,

I live in south carolina and got my greencard last year through marriage to a US citizen. My wife is the us citizen and now we just had a baby who also is a us citizen. Our income is low enough for our CHILD to qualify for medicaid. I do not need or want medicaid for myself as I know I am completely ineligible. I think my child who did not exist at the time of the AOS during my greencard process and also who is a us citizen should qualify for medicaid for herself. Is this legally accurate? I would like some legal expert advice on my us citizen child's eligibility for medicaid federally and also in south carolina. My wife is unemployed and my income is low enough for us to qualify. My concern is whether the 5 year wait extends to my child??? Thank you so much.

I don't know hwy you would think you are ineligible. If you are a lawful SC resident you would qualify. Your child as a US citizen certainly qualifies even if you were 100% illegal.
Of course, you all need to meet the income/asset tests, state residency, lack of other insurance, etc...
