    Software Company Lawsuits Against Infringers
    Hello all

Searching Google for Microsoft suits I came across this:
    http://www.expertlaw.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8229

I would like to know from more Senior members, if you can tell me what your perception of MS and Software Co. suits against infringers are like in the US.

Specifically, who generally gets sued? Commercial distributors? How big? Uploaders? Downloaders? Businesses? (What size--esp. small businesses?) "At-home" users?

What "warnings" are given? (C&D letters, how many, other requests or automated "you are using pirated stuff" alerts in the software.)Are criminal investigations requested (and same questions, how often, why)?

This is pre-research to a likely publication so links/cites that are more "professional" or "academic" (as opposed to "footnote--I asked this guy on the internet) are greatly appreciated. Any info, though, is helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

If you want to know Microsoft's practices for a school project, see if you can interview somebody in their legal department.
