    Class C Shoplifting Misdemeanor
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas

I had a question in regards to a Class C Misdemeanor; Wal-Mart shoplifting incident, that occurred 3 months back. Police were called and my parent and I (age 17) were consequentially banned from the store however we were not arrested since it was the first offense.
A few weeks later we received a letter from a Civil Recovery Law Firm requesting that we pay a civil penalty, we paid immediately and recently received a civil penalty release. However this letter stated that this release had no bearing on any criminal claim that is or may be pending.
I realize this was a very foolish thing to have done and I don't want it to affect me in future job opportunities. Also, will this show up on background checks?
I am interested in knowing whether there is anything that can be done to get this removed from my record.
Does anyone know what will mostly happen after this or whether we will need to appear in court/need a lawyer etc.
Any information you are willing to provide will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

As you weren't charged, there would be no court record of charges to show up on a criminal background check. Can we promise you that nobody will ever find a record of the police response to the store? No,w e can't promise that. Walmart will presumably maintain an internal record, as well.
