Roommate Lied from day one
Here is my situation.
I work with this guy that I am now a roommate with and we had a certain agreement when we were both put on a lease for a 2bdrm Apt.
I live in Tennessee and in Memphis.
I am a recovered alchoholic and he 'SWORE" and more that:
No alchohol/drugs in the Apt.
No smoking in the Apt.
No partying in the apt.
No people sleeping over (except his GF a day or two a week..)
At 9:00 its loud noises out..
We moved in THREE (3) weeks ago.
On DAY 3 he moved A male friend and his girlfriend in.
They drink and stay up late. I vacuumed after we moved in ( the carpet had been shampooed. The vacuum sucked up pot seeds and stems.
His room absolutely stinks. I have to listen to beer cans being opened every damn night. and YES there IS a difference in the way a Beer can being opened sounds like and the way a SODA can sounds..
I HAVE talked with him about them living there and he doesn't give a damn what I think.. He turned out to be a 100% liar. As though it was planned..
I want him out. I do not need to be NEAR or around anyone drinking or druggin and the whole drama going on. I THOUGHT we had an understanding but I was just bowled over completely with a fabricated story.
We are both on the lease and the APt mgr is unwilling to do anything about the people who have been moved in.
Today he is supposed to have been moving but the house 'Fell through'.. This is the 3rd ''''date''' he has said that he would be moving out and I am tired of waiting..
Especially NOW since his girlfriend moved in today. Thats 4 people in his room.
Please help if you know what I can do that is legal.
Thanks.
Re: Roommate Lied from day 1
Well, because your roommate moved those other two people in and they are "permanently" living there, they in theory have just the same rights to the house/apartment that you do. Therefore, in theory you can evict them because you're on the lease, however then they get 30 days notice etc.
Because now 4 people are living in a 2 bdrm apartment, I would personally go back over your lease and agreement with the landlord. Most likely, it will prohibit having 2 people who are not on the lease, from "moving in". Also, it may prohibit the actions in which are happening in this house.
Personally, I would get them the hell out of there ASAP. Depending on your financial situation, I would attempt to get out of the lease and move away versus trying to remove them.
