MIP in Florida - What Are My Options
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida. My girlfriend was on the beach of our hotel. Okloosa county sheriff came over, asked her age. (20). Then proceeds to write ticket for MIP. We were going to pay the fine however, the clerk said it would be on here record. Her court date is a month away. What are our options to getting this dismissed/expungement from her record. Also, she got the ticket ten days away from turning 21. Thanks in advance.

Florida state statute 562.111 (1). Were trying to do this without an lawyer if possible.

If she wants to know local policies for expungements or deferrals under the facts of her case, she should consult a local lawyer. Whether or not she wants to hire the lawyer is a separate issue. Most lawyers will give a free initial consultation.

Were trying to avoid a lawyer. However, we just need to know if we should go to court, does she plead guilty and pay the fine? Then, what is the next step from that? Or do we plead not guilty. Can we contact the County DA or someone to see if she can get a lesser charge or do community service? I understand we need a lawyer, However, I would love a general answer on what she should do? Her ultimate goal is to get this charge sealed and expunged.
