Can a Statutory Rape Charge Be Expunged in Mississippi
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Mississippi

I was wondering this because my boyfriend was put on trial for statutory rape about 2-3 years ago because of his ex girlfriend. He was convicted last year and is now serving 3-5 years probation. The girl and her sister lied about her age saying she was turning 18 when she was in fact 14 or 15. He is now 24. He has to do the standard check ins and is on the registry list. I know this will hold him back from a lot of opportunities and jobs in life. In a couple of years we plan to start a family and I really want him to have a stable, well-paying job. Is there anything we can do?

If he's required to register, then MS Code 45-33-55 prevents expungement.

If he's required to register as a sex offender, you may want to consider waiting until he no longer has to register if you want to have children with him.
