Getting Emancipated A Few Months Before Turning 18
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: New York
I turn 18 in 3 months but things are so bad at my house that if I don't get out I'm going to hurt/kill myse. Please help me I honestly need to get out of my house.
Im a senior in high school n I go to school everyday n I get A & B's, I have a part time job n. is working my ass off to get a car. They told me that if I move out they wot pay for college but at this point I don't care I'll find a way to pay it myself. But living in this house is no longer an option, n I can't wait 3 months it's literally that bad!!!!

Re: I'm Gonna Resort to Something Unnessary
Define "things are so bad".
If you're being abused or are otherwise in danger (say, if your parents are cooking meth in the basement), call your local CPS or the national child abuse hotline - 1-800-4-A-CHILD. CPS is required by law to investigate all complaints of abuse, and if you're found to be in a dangerous situation, you'll be removed and placed in foster care.
There is no statutory mechanism in place for becoming emancipated in the state of New York, and even if there were, your petition would not be heard until well after you reached the age of 18, and the second you threatened to hurt or kill yourself, it would be denied. Threats of self-harm are viewed by the courts as a need for more supervision, not less. As far as college goes, your parents have no obligation to pay for it in any case.

I just need to know that if I move out they will not be able to stop me? I need to know that they aren't allowed to go n get me?
Of course they can stop you. They can get law enforcement involved and have you dragged back home by your ear. Keep it up and they can have you tossed into Juvi.
