Unauthorized Credit Card Issued
I was hoping to get some advice. I was recently issued a credit card on behalf of my local bank without my proper authorization. I called customer service and traced the account opening back to a personal banker at my local bank account. Note: I have never spoken to this personal banker so there was no way did he ever get my permission to open a credit card. I spoke with the banking center manager yesterday when I inquired about how it would affect my credit score. She tried to reassure me that they only do a pulse check on my credit and that it would not affect my credit. This was not one of those pre-approved letters that they sent me, but an actual card. The manager also said, "oh it'll stay on your credit for 30 days and disappear after you cancel it, and you won't see a thing." Now my question is, how have these chain of events affected my credit? I want to have my facts straight before I escalate this up further.
Re: Unauthorized Credit Card Issued..
if you don't activate the card, and never charge on it, it can' hurt you.
as for the INQ, pull your CR('s) and see if they did a hard pull or a soft pull.
