Yes, because he has committed a crime.

Nobody can force you to speak - but don't you think people know his identity? It wouldn't be too difficult to identify him...y'know? And once that happens, he CAN be compelled to submit his DNA which will (or, who knows? might not) prove that he fathered your child.

I suspect the hospital/doctor will find out your age, and they'll be compelled as mandatory reporters to make official notification. There really isn't any "if" about the situation...only "when".

And, assuming that the state will be paying the medical bills and likely will be paying for the subsistence of you and the child, they have a vested interest in discovering who daddy is and getting HIM to reimburse them and to help with the maintenance of you and the child.

They will look for him, and if you do not give him up there might be repercussions for you.

That depends on who "they" might be.

Yes, he can be charged with a crime. The proof of your sexual relationship is the baby. The ACT (the crime) occurred when you were under the age of consent. So, the state could pursue charges. Even if they do not pursue criminal charges, you can be darn certain they will go after the baby daddy for reimbursement of costs and for support.

It doesn't magically become legal for him to have had sex with you when you were underage, once you turn 17. It was STILL a crime and yes, he can STILL be charged with one.

But at the age of 17 in Louisiana isnt it legal for a 17 year old to date whom ever he/she wants and what could he be charged with?

Sexual contact began prior to you being of consenting age. The baby proves that. As a result, you could wait until you are of consenting age, but he can still be tried for s sex offense because of your age when it began.

No one is saying he would be charged with anything for having sex with you after you reach consenting age. But your having reached consenting age does not make the fact that he had sex with you BEFORE you were of consenting age go away. Your 17th birthday is not a magic do-over. The illegal does not somehow become legal. It was STILL illegal for him to have sex with you when you were 16. No matter what.

Whether he WILL be charged with a crime, no one here can say. The crystal ball is in the shop. But make no mistake, he CAN.
