    Charged Due to Friends' Shoplifting
My question involves criminal law for the state of: NJ

Me and two others where in a store, I was waiting on them, they decided they wanted to shop lift, and used the bags i was carrying to put merchandise that was equivalent to 210.00 of mens clothing in my bag. (i am a female) We where caught, and processed by cops. however when they asked for ID i gave them my real ID, but As i was taking it out the cop saw my fake ID (which by the way i had never used, it didnt even have a zipcode so i never planned on using it, honest to God) and TOOk it out of my wallet, (this happened before reading my rights to search or what not) and found out it was fake. In the end they found my friends fake as well. two of us where charged with having fakes (2C:21-2.1D A 4th,)and all of us for shoplifting (2C:20-11.B (2). the cops made it seem we would be ok? r we?

(also when we where at the store they said the cops and the store that it would only be 186.00 and when we where released and given our sumons its said 210.00 should we bring that up?)
THIS IS ALL OF OUR FIRST OFFENSES!

can someone please give me a good answer. i have been talking to an attorney, and people are saying we dont need one, and that we will be fine. is that true?

we are going tomorrow to apply for a PTI, is that a good choice?
    what will happen then?

Chances are u will get probation or fine,a lawyer will help limit the damage . The question in the future when you go to rent an apt or find a job it can come back to bite u in the a)S,so this where it's good to have a lawyer to limit the damage.

I assume the cops are OK with it .. they don't care. And this is not you first offense .. it's your first and second !

    Clearly you need a lawyer.
