Minor in Possession in Arizona
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Arizona
I was driving in a car that got pulled over for a traffic violation and got breathalyzed. I blew a .06 and got written a citation for minor in possession. I'm nineteen and I have never been in trouble with the law before. What exactly does the charge minor in possession mean? On the court date should I plead guilty or not guilty? What is the usual punishment?
Re: Minor in Possession in Arizona
Minor means you're a minor. Possession means that you possess something, in this case internally.
If you plead guilty to a charge, you will be convicted of the charge. If you want to explore the possibility of a plea bargain or deferred sentence, you should do so before entering a guilty plea, as afterwards it's usually too late. Consult a local lawyer about whether you could qualify for a deferral, diversion, or some other more favorable disposition.
What's the exact charge that has been filed against you? ARS 4-244(33)?
