Do You Get Child Support and Benefits After Emancipation
My question involves child support in the State of: Indiana.
I moved away from my mother and I was wondering if I could receive the child support, medicaid, and food stamps if I know longer want to live with her? If I get emancipated would that help? I don't really know the best way to go about this.
Re: What Happens if You Get Emancipated with Your Child Support and Benefits
No. Child support is NEVER payable to the child.
If you need food stamps to support yourself, you do not qualify for emancipation. In order to successfully emancipate, you need to prove to the satisfaction of the judge that you are capable of supporting yourself WITHOUT assistance.

And emancipation = no child support.

If you need financial assistance, you should be getting it from the FATHER of your child, NOT from the taxpayers.

It seems she's asking if she can get the child support her Mom gets, redirected to herself?

That's what I thought too. And the answer is no, it cannot.

In the adult world, we earn our way. That is the key to emancipation. Come back when you are making enough to provide your own food, clothing, shelter and health insurance. We'll talk.

In order to get emancipated in Indiana you must demonstrate to the court that you have sufficient money and income to support yourself.
